Mets pitcher Oliver Perez will have season-ending surgery to treat patella tendon tendinosis in his right knee.

He was examined today by Mets Medical Director Dr. David Altchek at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

He is expected to fully recover and be ready for spring training.

This offseason, Perez signed a three-year $36 million contract. He was 3-4 with a 6.82 ERA.
