PICABO RUN PUT ON HOLD
SALT LAKE CITY – Two-time American Olympian Picabo Street’s last run for glory was delayed yesterday when high winds near the top of the Snowbasin course forced the postponement of the women’s downhill.
At an evening meeting of Olympic and Snowbasin-venue officials, the race was expected to be rescheduled for today.
“The gusts were coming each three or 10 minutes and we have no shot,” said race referee Kuret Hoch. The winds on the course would have been 15 or 20 kilometers.”
