San Francisco police interviewed witnesses and looked for suspects yesterday after two men were shot and wounded following Saturday’s 49ers-Raiders preseason game at Candlestick Park.

A 24-year-old man, who reportedly was wearing a “[Bleep] the Niners” T-shirt, remained hospitalized in serious condition after being shot several times in the stomach. He managed to stumble to stadium security for help despite the severe injuries, police said.

A second victim, a 20-year-old man, was treated for less serious wounds in a separate shooting, also after the game.

Sgt. Mike Andraychak said no arrests have been made and that police are looking for “a person of interest” connected to at least one of the shootings. He would not specify which shooting.

A motive for either attack — including whether either was influenced by emotions surrounding a game involving fiercely rival teams — also wasn’t known.

Apart from the shootings, a third victim, a 26-year-old man, also was hospitalized in serious condition yesterday after he was knocked unconscious in a stadium bathroom during the game. That attack appeared unrelated to the other two, police said.

The crimes prompted San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and Oakland Mayor Jean Quan to issue a joint statement saying that violence at stadiums in both cities will not be tolerated.

The victims’ names have not been released as the violent spree overshadowed the 49ers’ 17-3 victory over the Raiders.

In that game, Raiders tight end Kevin Boss sprained his left knee after being hit by a helmet and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.

QB Cam Newton will start Carolina’s preseason game on Thursday against the Bengals.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Newton will play the first three quarters, but he insisted that doesn’t mean the rookie quarterback will be the starter in the Sept. 11 season opener.

Newton played the entire first half of Friday’s 20-10 loss to Miami. He finished 7 of 14 for 66 yards. Jimmy Clausen finished up and went 9 for 15 for 69 yards.

The Jaguars waived rookie offensive lineman Rob McGill after signing tight end Joey Haynos.

The Ravens signed former Titans offensive lineman Jason Murphy and former Patriots tackle Mark LeVoir.

Chargers 20, Cowboys 7

Philip Rivers led the visiting Chargers to scores on two of three drives, and went 8 of 11 for 92 yards.

For Dallas, Tony Romo was 8 of 12 for 58 yards, with a six-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten.
