BOSTON – Knicks rookie Lavor Postell played the entire second half in his summer-league debut Monday. Yesterday, he didn’t get past the opening three minutes of the third quarter in a 67-57 summer-league victory over the Sixers at UMass-Boston.

In a frightening collision, Postell and Sixers’ Pepe Sanchez collided at midcourt in a scramble for a loose ball. Postell was kneed in the thigh, went down and missed the rest of the game with a bruised right quad. He is expected to return to action today when the Knicks face Indiana.

Postell, who scored a team-high 20 points in his debut, still led the club yesterday with 11 points in just 13 minutes, slashing to the basket to get to the line six times. He was 3 of 4 from the field but still has not impressed the coaching staff with defense or rebounding. Meanwhile, the Knicks’ other second-rounder, Pete Mickeal isn’t scoring but is playing mistake-free, hard-nosed defense and has earned at least an invite to training camp.

Knicks summer league coach Tom Thibodeau went as far as saying both Postell and Mickeal could help the real Knicks in practices right now. “They can help Allan and Latrell, two young guys that can get after them every day,” he said.
