With its seventh straight victory, Thomas Jefferson earned at least a share of its first Brooklyn AA division title since the PSAL went to an ‘AA’ format six years ago.
Jalen Evans had 12 points and six assists, Ed Ogundeko followed with nine points and eight rebounds and Raymel Wicker and Thaddeus Hall each scored eight points for Jefferson in a 63-48 victory over George Westinghouse Thursday night.
Currently, Jefferson (16-5, 12-2) and Lincoln are tied at 12-2, but the league is still deciding whether the Railsplitters’ 49-43 victory over South Shore will stand, Department of Education spokesperson Margie Feinberg told The Post. The game was halted with 4:01 left when a series of fights broke out in the crowd. There is the possibility the game could be made of or continued from the point at which it was stopped.
“We knew coming into the season we had as good of a shot as anybody,” Jefferson coach Lawrence (Bud) Pollard said. “It’s not a shock to me or my guys. We knew what Boys & Girls, South Shore and Lincoln had coming back. We played against those guys all summer and we knew we had a good chance against them. The guys have gotten better. They did it as a team.”
Pollard said Jefferson wouldn’t make a big deal out of the division title. The Orange Wave won’t hoist a banner for this.
“The ultimate goal is a city title,” he said. “This is a stepping stone for our guys.”
South Shore 51, Robeson 46: Ayodele Akinmola had 11 points and four steals and Shamiek Sheppard added 10 points for South Shore (17-7, 9-5) in Brooklyn AA. Robeson is 8-14 overall and 4-10 in league.
Wadleigh 59, John F. Kennedy 52: Basil Harley had 18 points and seven assists, Louis Costen followed with 15 points, 15 rebounds and four assists and Lenny Kadisha added seven points and 15 rebounds for Wadleigh (22-5, 13-12) in Manhattan AA. Kennedy is 15-9 altogether and 11-5 in Bronx AA.
Wings Academy 90, West 50th Street 57: Steven Gomez pumped in 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Jose Ayala had 14 points and five assists and Justin Jenkins followed with 11 points and 10 assists for Wings (22-2, 16-0), which completed its second straight perfect league season in Bronx AA. West 50th Street is 1-14 in Manhattan AA.
Manhattan Center 60, James Monroe 52: Khalil Hamer scored 22 points and Nyk King posted 14 points and seven rebounds for Manhattan Center (6-9) in Manhattan AA. Monroe is 3-12 in Bronx AA.
Bayside 64, Martin Van Buren 50: Brandon King sank three 3-pointers and scored 22 points, Ryan Tomlin had 17 points and seven rebounds and Uzonna Akazi had 15 points and 22 rebounds for Bayside (18-5, 12-2), which earned a share of Queens AA East with Cardozo and has won 11 in a row. Martin Van Buren finishes the regular season 5-9.
Transit Tech 62, Grady 51: Richard Williams had 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Victor Frazier had 13 points and eight rebounds and Fabian MacDonald finished with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals for Transit Tech (10-13, 5-9) in Brooklyn AA. Grady finished the season 2-12.
Gompers 67, Thurgood Marshall Academy 66: Carlos Galan poured in 26 points and Pierce Smith added 21 for Gompers (13-8, 8-8) in Bronx AA. Malik Jones paced TMA (6-9, Manhattan AA) with 24 points.
CLASS B
Health Professions 73, NEST 56: Gelvin Solano had 31 points, 11 rebounds and four assists and Kwame McClatchie had 16 points and 14 rebounds for Health Professions (11-0) in Manhattan B-2. NEST is 8-4.
Townsend Harris 51, Robert H. Goddard 50: Sharief Enany had 21 points and Jozef Nikaj posted 10 points and 13 rebounds for Townsend Harris (7-8) in Queens B East. Goddard is 4-10.
Fannie Lou Hamer 80, Leadership Institute 55: Isaih Thomas scored 21 points and Jimeek Conyers (seven assists) and Corey Morgan Jr. (17 rebounds) each had 12 points for Bronx B East-leading Fannie Lou Hamer (19-4, 15-1). Leadership Institute is 1-14.
Bathgate 74, FDA III 64: Diego Emiliano had 20 points and 16 rebounds and Justin Lessington and Albert Gonzalez (nine rebounds, seven assists) followed with 12 points apiece for Bathgate (11-5) in Bronx B East. FDA III falls to 9-7.
American Studies 54, InTech 33: Jarobi Moorhead had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Zane Vogel followed with 15 points and 14 rebounds for American Studies (12-3) in Bronx B East. InTech is 7-8.
Albert Tuitt 82, Luperon 47: Brahian Guzman scored 16 points and Alvin Ortiz followed with 14 for Albert Tuitt (15-1), which clinched at least a share of the Bronx B West title. Luperon is 5-11.
Wingate 50, Adams Street 35: Tim Benn had 13 points and seven rebounds for Wingate (13-3), which is tied atop Brooklyn B West with Leon Goldstein. Adams Street is still winless at 0-16.
Teachers Prep 88, Juan Morel Campos 48: Jordan Stewart had 17 points and four assists, Andre Menner had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Allen Griffin added 11 for Brooklyn B East winner Teachers Prep (15-0), which 51-21 at halftime. Juan Morel Campos is 5-10.
Metropolitan 71, South Bronx Prep 67: Desmond Byfield made five 3-pointers and poured in 31 points and William McClellan added 28 points for Metropolitan (11-5) in Bronx B East. Maurice Bailey had 31 points and 13 rebounds for South Bronx Prep (8-8).
Leon Goldstein 57, Tilden 54: Lucas Savage scored 26 points and Jacob Berardi added 16 points and 13 rebounds for Leon Goldstein (13-3) in Brooklyn B West. Tilden is 11-4.
Maxwell 57, Foundations Academy 38: Ricky Price scored 14 points and Dwight Robinson had 13 for Maxwell (3-13) in Brooklyn B East. Foundations Academy is also 3-13.
Renaissance 64, Law Enforcement & Public Safety 61: Eric Holloway had 17 points and 14 rebounds and James Jeffries had 16 points and five assists for Renaissance (11-3) in Queens B East. Law Enforcement is 9-5.
