Rafael Nadal likes dramatics.

The world No. 1 toyed with the crowd with his scary first set against lucky loser Leonardo Mayer, dropping a tiebreak before storming away to win the next three sets 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday night.

Nadal made an uncharacteristic 13 unforced errors compared to just nine winners in the first before he started to ramp it up against the Argentine journeyman. With the match tied entering the seventh game of the second set, Nadal won a break point that quickly changed the course of the match.

Though the first two sets lasted more than an hour a each, Nadal made quick work of Mayer in the third, who won just one game in the 27 minute set.
