ABSTRACT:

it started on a small scale about a decade ago. A few groups of recreational anglers from coastal states who were concerned about the depletion of our marine resources formed organizations that would give them a voice that would be heard by lawmakers both locally and nationally.

Now, recreational fishermen nationwide, worried at seeing fish disappear from their favorite fishing spots, are joining the fight.

The National Marine Fisheries Service alliance is producing a gory video on longlining to be shown to some key congressmen.

“This is a frontal attack on longlining and we make no bones about it.” said Mike Laptew, an underwater filmmaker who is producing the video.
