Major League Soccer has fined Red Bulls coach Hans Backe $2,500 for criticizing officiating after his team’s 3-2 loss to the New England Revolution.

The Red Bulls were forced to play much of the second half of Saturday’s game without defender Carlos Mendes and midfielder Roy Miller, who were sent off with red cards. Mendes earned his in the 56th minute for a flagrant trip of Marko Perovic, and Miller in the 75th minute for a foul on Zak Boggs.
