The New York Red Bulls and defender Babajide Ogunbiyi have agreed to part ways.
The Red Bulls announced the move Friday, citing undisclosed concerns about the player’s physical condition.
General manager Erik Soler said Ogunbiyi took a physical after being signed in late July and the team had some concerns. After consulting a number of doctors over the past two weeks, the team decided to let him go.
The Red Bulls refused to comment on the medical issue, citing the player’s right to confidentiality.
Ogunbiyi had played with Viborg FF of the Danish First Division since 2010.
