SEATTLE — Ichiro Suzuki hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning and connected twice overall, and the Seattle Mariners rallied from four runs down to beat the Boston Red Sox, playing without a benched David Ortiz, 5-4 last night in Seattle.

Suzuki hit a solo shot for Seattle’s first run in the fifth, then sent a 3-1 fastball from Jon Lester into the first row of seats beyond right field for his fourth two-homer game and first since July 30, 2005.

Ortiz was benched indefinitely a day after he went 0-for-7 and stranded 12 base runners in an extra-inning loss at the Los Angeles Angels.

In Kansas City, Mo., Zack Greinke pitched seven innings to earn his seventh win, and the Royals ended a six-game losing streak.

Rays 8, Indians 7

B.J. Upton’s ninth-inning homer off Luis Vizcaino capped the biggest comeback in Tampa Bay history.

In Arlington, Texas, Ian Kinsler homered twice, and the Rangers held on for their fifth straight win.

In Toronto, Aaron Hill hit a two-run homer to lead the Blue Jays.

In Detroit, Ryan Raburn and Brandon Inge both hit grand slams and drove in five runs for Detroit.

Phillies 10, Nationals 6 (12)

In Washington, Raul Ibanez’s fourth hit of the game was a two-run single in the top of the 12th for Philadelphia. Kip Wells, Washington’s eighth pitcher, walked the bases loaded in the 12th and Ibanez broke a 6-all tie.

Dodgers 6, Marlins 4

In Miami, Juan Pierre hit a tiebreaking two-run single in the seventh inning, and the Dodgers rallied from a three-run deficit.

Braves 4, D’backs 3

In Atlanta, Yunel Escobar hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the bottom of ninth, giving the Atlanta Braves a win after blowing a lead in the top of the inning.

Rockies 3, Pirates 1

In Pittsburgh, Brad Hawpe’s two-run homer was part of Colorado’s three-run ninth inning.

Padres 5, Reds 3

In San Diego, Adrian Gonzalez homered in his fifth straight game, Scott Hairston drove in the go-ahead run in a three-run seventh and the Padres beat the Reds.
