The Rays beat the Red Sox Monday night 2-1 after a game-deciding and later acknowledged blown call at homeplate by umpire Jerry Meals.
The win was enough for the Rays to eclipse the Red Sox in the AL East standings and apparently enough to also send out a teasing tweet too.
Dear @RedSox scoreboard operator – your standings are wrong. Yours truly, @RaysBaseball.

The Red Sox social media team quickly and sharply replied back
Don't worry @raysbaseball we look forward to seeing you in Tampa in September for our home games at the Trop.

The contentiousness between the two teams online is just the latest chapter in their series of on-field confrontations.
The division foes began their bad blood in May 2012 when the Rays’ Luke Scott was hit by a pitch after three previously unsuccessful attempts. Last month in Tampa Bay, benches cleared after starter John Lackey drilled Matt Joyce a few at bats after he launched a first inning home run off him.
At least for this year, the Red Sox rivalry with the Yankees may take a back seat to manager Joe Maddon’s squad.
As for Twitter, the Red Sox hold the last word for now. Maybe the Rays can convince their fans to show up in September and prove them wrong.
