The Washington Post reports newly acquired Redskins’ defensive end Jason Taylor is unlikely to play in the season opener against the Giants Thursday night.

Taylor suffered a sprained knee in the preseason. Washington acquired Taylor after DE Phillip Daniels was lost for the season.

Don’t expect much pity from the Giants, who lost DE Osi Umenyiora for the season with a cartilage injury and Michael Strahan to retirement.
