Florida Derby winner Quality Road, expected to vie for favoritism in the May 2 Kentucky Derby, has a slight quarter crack in his right hind hoof, according to Internet reports, but at this point is still on-target to make the race.

The 3-year-old colt, trained by Jimmy Jerkens, is being treated by noted equine foot specialist Ian McKinlay, who last year attended to Big Brown, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Big Brown suffered two serious quarter cracks over the winter before the Derby, then another one surfaced a few weeks before the Belmont Stakes. Big Brown was eased in the Belmont, foiling his bid for the Triple Crown.
