Roger Federer will be able to buy lots of new black tennis outfits for this summer’s US Open after pocketing $1 million for last night’s exhibition showdown at the Garden against Pete Sampras, according to a tennis source.

Federer was to get the moolah win or lose. It was unclear the exact dollar amount of Sampras’ haul, but it was signifcantly less than Federer’s one-night stand in Manhattan. Sources said Federer’s racket and other stuff from the match will be auctioned off for charity, possibly with Sotheby’s.
