Rutgers added Scottish midfielder Robin Brown to a huge 13-player recruiting class for the 2011 season.

“Robin will help sure up the middle of the park,” said Rutgers coach Dan Donigan. “He’s a very versatile player with good size and grit. Robin brings another level of maturity and a winning mentality. We are very pleased to have him join our program.”

Brown, 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, starred at Tyler Junior College in Texas. The Edinburgh native played two seasons at Tyler JC under head coach Steve Clements. The Apaches won back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Championship titles during Brown’s time there, as he compiled a 41-0-1 record and was a two-time Academic All-Region Award recipient.

Brown played for Berwickshire High School, captaining his squad to the Scottish Cup. He played his club ball with Coldstream FC, serving as top goal scorer for his club team in 2007 and 2008.
