PISCATAWAY — Rutgers linebacker Khaseem Greene has been named the co-winner of the Big East Conference’s defensive player of the year award.
The league announced its awards Thursday and Greene and Cincinnati defensive lineman Derek Wolfe shared the defensive honor.
Greene led the Big East with 127 tackles, the most by a Scarlet Knights player since Indianapolis Colts linebacker Gary Brackett totaled 130 in 2002.
Junior wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was a unanimous first-team choice setting a school and conference single-season record of 109 receptions.
Joining Sanu and Greene on the league’s first team were guard Art Forst and strong safety Duron Harmon, who had five interceptions.
The Scarlet Knights will face Iowa State in the Pinstripe Bowl Dec. 30.
