The outpouring of support from the girls basketball community in memory of Tayshana (Chicken) Murphy has been tremendous.

Murphy, a Murry Bergtraum senior and one of the top point guards in the country, was shot and killed early Sunday morning as part of an apparent retaliation for a fight that happened Saturday night between people from the Grant Houses where she lived and the rival Manhattanville Houses.

The wake will be Friday night between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Thomas M. Quinn & Sons Funeral Home at 35-20 Broadway in Long Island City, Queens. Murphy’s funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the same location.
