Sheepshead Bay faced its stiffest challenge of the season yesterday and managed to hold off Fort Hamilton, 27-24.

Sheepshead QB Kelley Pierre scored on an 11-yard TD run to put the Sharks ahead with 3:43 to go.

In other PSAL games, Port Richmond handed Wagner its first loss of the season, beating the Falcons, 12-6. Lehman got 195 yards and three TDs on the ground from Ivan Pomontty as the Lions ripped Lincoln, 44-16. Tottenville upended New Dorp, 34-28, Evander Childs blitzed Jefferson, 32-0, Erasmus beat Columbus, 25-13, and Brooklyn Tech shut out Midwood, 36-0. Jamaica earned another win in its first varsity season, nipping Springfield Gardens, 7-6.

St. Anthony’s proved again to be the class of the CHSFL, holding off Holy Trinity 13-6.

Kevin White, Jr., the basketball standout who transferred out of Grady earlier this year, has left his most recent school, August Martin, according to sources at the Queens school.

White, a point guard who has received interest from several Div. I colleges, stopped attending classes at Martin last week and was signed out of the school by his mother.

When asked 10 days ago whether he would consider transferring from Martin, White said he “might.” Basketball practice begins later this month, but where White winds up at this point is anyone’s guess.
