Rutgers landed its fourth football commitment for the Class of 2009 when Sheepshead Bay strongside defensive end Andre Civil chose the Scarlet Knights today. The 6-foot-3, 238-pounder picked RU over offers from Big East rivals Syracuse and Connecticut, as well as ACC foes Clemson and Georgia Tech.
Civil was the 38th-best defensive end in the country according to scout.com, and joins 6-6, 300-lb. South Shore offensive tackle as the second Brooklyn recruit in next yearâs class. Rutgers has also recruited South Brunswick safety Mohamed Sanu, and Cardinal OâHara star QB Tom Savage.
Savage was the nationâs fourth-ranked pro-style QB according to rivals.com, and was recently the MVP of the Penn State Nike Camp. They could add a fifth recruit, with the Philadelphia Inquirer reporting that Neshaminyâs Paul Carrezola _ scout.comâs 16th-ranked tight end _ is expected to commit to RU at a 2:30 p.m. news conference Tuesday.
