A French woman whose clueless sign-waving caused a crash at the Tour de France has been fined 1,200 euros, or about $1,357, according to reports.
The woman, whose name has been withheld, “did something daft,” tour chief Christian Prudhomme said, according to the BBC. “She’s no terrorist.”
Racer Tony Martin went flying when he clipped her sign during the race’s first stage, leading others to crash as well. The 30-year-old woman reportedly fled after the smashup.
Dozens of riders hit the ground in one of the legendary race’s worst crashes, the BBC reported.
