STOCKHOLM — Helsingborg manager Henrik Larsson and his striker son Jordan were attacked by fans after the Swedish club was relegated from the top flight on Sunday.

The incident happened Sunday after Helsingborg’s 2-1 loss to Halmstad. Masked hooligans mobbed Jordan Larsson and pulled off his shirt before team officials and security officials pushed them back. He wasn’t injured.

The father — a former Celtic, Barcelona and Manchester United great — and his 19-year-old son had gone to commiserate with the home crowd when a number of fans threw chairs and flags at them.

Teammates and club officials have yet to comment, and when questioned about the incident, a disappointed Jordan Larsson told reporters: “We’ll have to take that another day.”

Interior Minister Anders Ygeman on Monday called for raised security at soccer stadiums.

Larsson gave Helsingborg the lead, but Halmstad scored twice to turn the match around, sending Helsingborg to Sweden’s second division for the first time since 1992.
