Three former international soccer honchos lined their pockets with millions of dollars in bribes from sports-media and marketing firms, federal prosecutors alleged in closing arguments at the officials’ Brooklyn federal corruption trial Wednesday.
“[They] took money for themselves instead of putting the interests of the soccer organizations first,” Assistant US Attorney Kristin Mace said.
But defense lawyers for José Maria Marin, Juan Angel Napout and Manuel Burga claimed in their closing that there’s not enough evidence to convict them.
