Trinity Rodman’s recent recall to the U.S. Women’s National Team could be in jeopardy after she was seen exiting a Concacaf W Champions Cup match on crutches.

The U.S. star and Washington Spirit forward had to be helped off the field after she went to the ground attempting a tackle during the 37th minute of the Spirit’s 4-0 win over Monterrey.

Rodman, 23, was in visible pain as she was helped by the team’s training staff and was unable to put any weight on her right leg.

She was subbed out for Brittany Ratcliffe in the 41st minute.

Rodman was then seen going to the locker room on crutches at halftime.

Spirit coach Adrian Gonzalez did not have any updates on Rodman after the match but did say that she would undergo scans on Thursday.

The injury comes on the same day that Rodman received her first recall by the USWNT since April, after dealing with an ongoing back injury over the summer. She has played in just one national team game since helping the Americans win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I’m super excited to have Trin back with the group — but a healthy Trin I think is the important thing,” USWNT head coach Emma Hayes said during a press conference earlier Wednesday. “When she came in in April, she really felt she was in a good place, but the reality was, I think so much adrenaline got her through that game in LA, but afterward that reality hit home that there were some issues in her back that were unresolved.

“Collectively, with club and country, we took the time to say, ‘Look, we’ve got to get it right for long-term.’ And I think that club and country collaboration has really put her in the position she is in right now.”

Since getting back onto the field in September, Rodman has looked to be at her top form for the Spirit, being named the NWSL Player of the Month for September and scoring three goals and recording two assists during the month.
