Auston Trusty addresses injury

By Christian Arnold

Auston Trusty spoke with Fox Sports after the match and said that he "rolled his ankle pretty bad" late in the loss to Turkey.

He did try to put a positive spin on the situation when he was asked directly about the injury.

"I'll be alright. I'll be alright," Trusty said. "Obviously, I don't know. I heard a little something, but I'll be fine, no worries."

USMNT falls to Turkey on stoppage-time goal to close out World Cup group stage

By Andrew Battifarano

The United States almost finished the World Cup group stage without a loss.

The USMNT — which already locked up the top spot in its group — fell 3-2 to Turkey at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Thursday night in front of a sellout crowd of 70,492.

When it looked like a draw was in reach, Kaan Ayhan scored in late stoppage time to give Turkey the win.

A tie would’ve given the U.S. an unbeaten record in the group stage, but Turkey rallied for its first and only victory of the tournament.

Türkiye 3 - 2 United States

What a dramatic finish!

Turkiye snags a late winner against the United States at Los Angeles Stadium, exiting the tournament with three points.

Despite a strong finish, Montella's side struggled early, conceding to Trusty's close-range finish from a corner in under three minutes.

Guler equalized seven minutes later after a well-worked move with Yilmaz, then scored again on the half-hour mark, instinctively kneeing Kokcu's shot into the net.

Turkiye again faltered after kickoff, as Berhalter fired home from 20 yards out four minutes later.

But Ayhan, a late substitute, became the hero, redirecting Uzun's pass into an empty net in the eighth minute of added time.

After not scoring in their first two matches, Turkiye netted three times tonight with an xG of 2.71.

The USMNT suffers their first defeat, registering 2.06 expected goals.

Turkiye's World Cup journey ends, while Pochettino's side returns to action July 1 against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

That's all from us for this 2026 World Cup Group B fixture!

Pulisic threads a lovely ball through for Pepi, but he can't get a shot off quickly enough.

Soyuncu slides in to block at close range, and the linesman's flag then ends the move prematurely.

Turkiye gets a set piece to clear their area.

The United States makes history!

They are just the fifth team ever to score in the first four minutes of both halves of a World Cup match.

The last team to do it was Nigeria against Argentina back in 2014.
