The U.S. men’s national team is set to face Türkiye in the final match of the group stage Thursday, but World Cups fans are dying to know who the Americans will face in Round of 32.

There is currently a 77% chance the USMNT will face the third-place team from Group B in the knockout stage of the tournament. That means Wednesday’s match between Qatar and Bosnia Herzegovina has become a must-watch showdown for USA fans.

The winner of Qatar versus Bosnia Herzegovia will likely be the third-place team in Group B.

The USMNT has a commanding lead over its opponents in Group D with a five-plus goal differential before Thursday’s match against Türkiye. The Americans will feature in the Round of 32, but could face a number of different nations.

While it appears that the most likely scenario is the U.S. facing the winner of Qatar versus Bosnia Herzegovina, the squad could also face a third-place team from four other possible groups (E,F,I or J).

The 2026 World Cup has emerged as arguably the biggest event of the summer and its co-host nation, the U.S., has transformed the narrative surrounding the team prior to the tournament. There was much doubt surrounding the U.S., but the team’s six goals in its first two matches have sparked a newfound interest in stateside soccer.

The USMNT is set to play in the Round of 32 on July 1 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. For now, the squad is focused on preparing for its match against Türkiye Thursday.
