The 2022 World Cup has moved onto the knockout stage.

Thirty-two teams have been trimmed down to 16 countries that are now involved in a single-elimination tournament to claim the grandest prize in soccer.

The Americans squeezed through thanks to a courageous goal by Christian Pulisic against Iran. Many of the usual suspects — Brazil, Argentina, France — advanced, while others — Germany, Belgium — were shockingly eliminated. In their place, the party was crashed by the likes of Morocco and Japan setting up some intriguing matchups in the coming days.
