Poly Prep gutted out a big win.

Kerri Saputo scored the game-winning run with some heads-up baserunning and the Blue Devils sneaked past Fieldston, 10-9 in eight innings, in Ivy League softball Friday in Brooklyn.

Saputo, the junior center fielder, led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk. She advanced on a bunt hit by Lindsay Holcomb and kept on running. The ball got away at third base and Saputo raced home to end the game for Poly (2-0 Ivy).

The Blue Devils tied the game at 9 in the bottom of the seventh to send it into extras. Lauren Klehammer singled, advanced on a throw and Amanda Grossman came in to pinch run. Katie Friel bunted and Grossman came around to score on a misplay.

Fieldston, which started the season with a 17-2 win over Trinity, falls to 1-1.

Horace Mann 14, Hackley 4: Kaitlyn Puglia was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, Jamie Gropper was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs and Cara Annunziata went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs drive in for Horace Mann (2-0) on Wednesday. Mia Farinelli gave up just one earned run on four hits with two talks and struck out six in five innings.

CHSAA STATEN ISLAND

Moore Catholic 22, St. Joseph Hill 0: Nicole Guzzone tossed a two-hitter, walked one and struck out six and also had two hits and two RBIs for Moore Catholic (3-0). Noelle Malpeso had a homer andNicole DeMartino went 3-for-4 with a homer, four RBIs and four runs. Maxine Jasko, Taylor Krupa, Alexa Aliberti, Kelly Graham and Gianna DeCesare added two hits apiece. St. Joseph Hill is 1-4.

NON-LEAGUE

Staten Island Academy 15, Trevor Day 14: Anna Price was 2-for-5 with seven RBIs for Staten Island Academy (1-1) in non-league. Julia Holmes added three hits.
