Yesterday, SerieACalcio reported that Paolo Maldini reached an agreement in principle with the Red Bulls on a one-year deal for three million euros. But today a league source is telling me that it’s not the case.
Now, is it possible that somewhere down the line, the 41-year-old Milan legend will step out of retirement and into a Red Bull kit? Sure; but I’m just being told that day isn’t imminent and I shouldn’t hold my breath waiting, so I won’t.
As far as players actually on the roster, Dane Richards got forced out of the final friendly in La Manga with an injury. But I’m led to believe it was “just a knock” and wasn’t anything too serious.
Many remember him getting hurt by a cheap shot from a Red Bull Salzburg reserve player in preseason a couple of years ago and missing extended time; fortunately this doesn’t appear to be a rerun of that incident.
