Shane Spencer’s weak hacks last night during a sixth-inning strikeout told you something was wrong with the Yankees’ left fielder. Like any hitter, Spencer gets fooled. However, his swings during that at-bat were very lethargic.

And when Spencer returned to the Yankees’ dugout, the reason unfolded as Spencer complained of feeling dizzy to the point where the Yankees sent Spencer to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in the middle of a 2-1 victory over the Orioles.

“He got dizzy and is at the hospital for tests,” said Joe Torre, who replaced Spencer with Ricky Ledee in left field to start the seventh and then hit for Ledee with Chad Curtis in the eighth.

Spencer, who was riding a seven-game hitting streak in which he was 11-for-24 (.458) and had stalled talk of the Yankees searching for a left fielder, was hitless in three at-bats and fanned twice.
