As reported in The Post yesterday, legendary former Celtics coach and GM Red Auerbach continues to fight for his life at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C.

The Hall of Famer, who is 11 days shy of his 88th birthday, underwent two different surgeries over the last two weeks. The reason for first surgery is still unknown, but during the procedure, doctors found cancer in his colon which necessitated a second operation.

Auerbach’s condition has drastically improved since last Friday, when it looked especially grim. Multiple sources said that Auerbach had not lapsed into a coma but that he was hooked up to a ventilator to help his breathing. They said he was sitting up in bed and watching television yesterday.
