SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Mike Barrow sounded genuinely incredulous. “This is what you want to talk about?” he asked. “There’s no story there. It’s not Mike Tyson and Mitch Green.”

No, it’s not. On Monday back in Albany, it was Barrow vs. Greg Comella in the most heated fight of Giants’ training camp. Raging tempers gave way to anger and the altercation stopped practice as Barrow hit Comella with a forearm to the back of the head. When the two continued to jaw after they were separated, Jim Fassel tossed both players out of practice.

A day later, the combatants yesterday were conciliatory.

“I apologized for being in a fight,” Barrow said. “It’s kind of hard, one minute you’re in a fight, the next you’re saying when Bible study is.”

“Mike and I talked after practice,” Comella said. “I respect Mike. I’m glad he’s on my team. I’m glad I don’t have to go against that sucker on Sundays.”
