Beckett (15-6) allowed four hits with four strikeouts and a walk in five innings. The last hit was a double by Evan Longoria leading off the sixth, the final batter before the field was covered.

In Arlington, Texas, Ichiro Suzuki doubled and homered to move within two of a record ninth-straight 200-hit season, and the Mariners beat the Rangers in a game called by rain with three outs remaining.

White Sox 4, Angels 3 (10)

In Anaheim, Calif., Scott Podsednik hit an inside-the-park homer and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th on a wild pitch.

Blue Jays 8, Tigers 6

In Detroit, Aaron Hill hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the ninth inning, capping Toronto’s come-from-behind victory.

Indians 13, Royals 6

In Cleveland, Jhonny Peralta drove in four runs to help David Huff become Cleveland’s first 10-game winner.

In Minneapolis, Brett Anderson threw seven sharp innings for the Athletics.

Dodgers 9, Giants 1

In San Francisco, Russell Martin hit a three-run homer, Vicente Padilla (3-0) pitched six strong innings and the Dodgers topped their 2008 win total.

Padres 3, Rockies (10)

In San Diego, pinch-hitter Nick Hundley drew a bases-loaded walk with one out in the 10th and the Padres snapped the Rockies’ eight-game win streak.

Marlins 11, Nationals 3

In Miami, Jorge Cantu doubled, homered and drove in five runs to power the Marlins.

Brewers 9, D’backs 8

In Phoenix, rookie Casey McGehee homered twice, drove in six runs, and went 4 for 5 as the Brewers rolled.

Braves 7, Cardinals 6

In St. Louis, Brian McCann hit a two-run double in the top of the ninth and the Braves held on to beat the Cardinals.

Reds 7, Cubs 5

In Chicago, Drew Sutton lined a two-out double off Carlos Marmol in the ninth, and the Reds won after squandering a five-run lead.

Astros 4, Pirates 2

In Houston, Miguel Tejada hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the Astros.
