The Nets’ roster may be better than last season, but their record probably won’t be.
And that’s a good thing.
For a tanking team in desperate need of lottery luck, taking a step back record-wise is the sensible move. And force-feeding their young point guards major minutes is going to all but assure they accomplish it.
“Well, I have to say that we’re in a rebuilding year,” Nets team owner Joe Tsai said recently with admirable transparency. “We spent all of our [2025] picks — we had five first-round draft picks this past summer. We have one pick in 2026, and we hope to get a good pick. So you can predict what kind of strategy we will use for this season. But we have a very young team.”
