For the first time since 1985, sixth-ranked St. John’s won the outright Big East regular-season crown, and did so in emphatic fashion, by three full games over second-place Creighton.

The Johnnies are the favorite for this week’s Big East Tournament at the Garden, the lone team in the league expected to receive a top four seed in the NCAA Tournament. There are plenty of threats, from the sharpshooting Bluejays of Creighton and two-time defending national champion Connecticut to Marquette, led by star Kam Jones, and red-hot Xavier. Villanova and Eric Dixon, the country’s leading scorer, can’t be dismissed, either.

It all gets going on Wednesday with the out-bracket round at Madison Square Garden. The Post’s Zach Braziller breaks it down:
