SAN FRANCISCO — Cam Schlittler was impressed by the pageantry he witnessed at Oracle Park on Wednesday night prior to the Yankees’ season-opening win over the Giants.

It was a considerably different environment than the one he was a part of last April 4, when he pitched the opener for Double-A Somerset at Hartford.

At the time, the right-hander had just spent weeks opening eyes at Yankee camp during spring training, but there was no real indication he would go on to have the impact he did in the second half of the season, when he emerged as one of the rotation’s top starters down the stretch and into the playoffs.

In his last opener, he pitched 5 ²/₃ solid innings for Somerset, the first of his 10 starts in Double-A before a brief, five-start tenure at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before he made his MLB debut with the Yankees on July 9.
