Back in spring training, I was watching batting practice on a back field at the Yankees’ complex in Tampa shortly before a Grapefruit League game.

As I tried to hurry back to the Steinbrenner Field press box for the start of the game, there was a bullpen session going on in my path, preventing me from getting there.

So I watched — and heard — Cam Schlittler throw for the first time.

The sound was just as impressive as anything else.
