Power To Charm drew post four and was installed as the even money morning-line favorite to capture the $1 million Hambletonian Saturday afternoon at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

Driven by Hall of Famer John Campbell, Power To Charm won his Hambo elimination last Saturday with little effort.

“There’s no wasted energy with him,” said Campbell. “It’s a big edge when you can adapt to whatever happens in the race.”

Campbell is looking for his 21st million dollar victory and a record sixth Hambletonian win.

“This is why we’re in it,” said Campbell. “This is our Super Bowl.”

Power To Charm, coupled in the wagering with Muscle King, is a son of Malabar Man, who won the 1997 Hambletonian for owner and amateur driver Mal Burroughs.

The Burroughs’ owned Malabar Millennium, also a son of Malabar Man out of the 1994 Hambo Oaks winning filly Gleam, drew post three (6-1) for driver David Miller and trainer Jimmy Takter.

Miller picked up the drive in the Hambo elimination after Burroughs suffered a heart attack the prior week.

“I always felt Malabar Millennium had the ability to perform at this level, and Dave Miller brought it out of him,” said Burroughs.

Burroughs, whose driving career may be over, is recovering nicely and hopes to be at The Meadowlands Saturday if his physician gives the go ahead.

Bebop (post 1, 4-1) is also trained by Takter, who is looking for his second Hambo victory. The aforementioned Malabar Man was also his trainee.

Bebop, who won his Hambo elimination, will be driven by Takter.

“He’s a very fast horse, with a lot of strength,” said Takter. “I think he can trot in under 1:53.”

Saturday’s 15-race card kicks off at 11:30 a.m., with the Hambletonian scheduled to go to post at 2:43 p.m. Ch. 2 will carry the race live as part of its Hambletonian show which starts at 2 p.m.
