Over the past five winters, the Yankees signed or traded for six different starting pitchers on major league deals.

Last offseason, they added Corey Kluber and traded for Jameson Taillon. The offseason before, they secured their white whale, Gerrit Cole. In 2018-19, they re-signed CC Sabathia and J.A. Happ and dealt for James Paxton. And in 2017-18, the club inked Sabathia to a different deal after a 2016-17 offseason that did not feature any starting pitcher additions.

If you add in midseason trades for starters who were under team control beyond that year, the list grows to include Sonny Gray.
