JET NOTES
There’s still a buzz around the Jets about the job receiver Jonathan Carter did against the Colts on Sunday, compiling 304 total yards and two touchdowns in the game on a 62-yard scoring reception and 242 yards in kickoff yardage on six runbacks, including a 90-yard score.
Carter, who’s been elevated to the No. 3 receiver, moving ahead of Kevin Swayne, now leads the NFL in kickoff returns with a 31.2-yard average on 13 returns.
“They told me that [yesterday]. I can’t believe that,” Carter said. “I’m going to try to keep it going the rest of the season.”
Carter said, aside from fielding numerous calls from friends and family since his Sunday breakout game, he heard from several former Giants teammate on Tuesday, including Tiki Barber, Ike Hilliard and Ron Dixon.
“When you have a game like he had, the red light goes up [and draws teams’ attention],” Herman Edwards said yesterday.

Jets’ DE John Abraham, who’s listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with the groin pull that’s kept him out the last three games, returned to practice yesterday and is expected to play.
WR Santana Moss, who suffered a rib bruise in the Colts game and is listed as probable, didn’t practice yesterday but is expected to play . . . CB Donnie Abraham, who’s missed the last eight games with a fractured right shoulder, is expected to return to the lineup Sunday, but will likely be used only in nickel situations . . . RB LaMont Jordan will play with a cast on his left hand to protect his broken finger.
DT Josh Evans will return from his suspension and be rotated into the game. He’ll likely be used often on third downs as a penetrating pass rusher.
Wayne Chrebet has sat in on some team meetings, including one yesterday morning, but he still isn’t feeling very well from the effects of post-concussion syndrome, according to Edwards.
