MIAMI — It is possible that Cedric Mullins’ final chance to salvage his Mets tenure came and went Friday. In what might have been his final start, he went 0-for-3 with a walk and strikeout. In 41 games with the Mets, he has batted .183 with a .569 OPS. His respective numbers for the Orioles before the trade: .229 and .738.

After a 5-0 win over the Marlins at loanDepot Park, the Mets still cling to hopes for a postseason spot, which would provide more opportunity for Mullins to show the team and fans the kind of player he can be.
