As teams jockey for conference titles and NCAA Tournament berths, games acquire a “must-win” label. But today at DePaul, St. John’s faces a “must-not-lose” game.

The Blue Demons (8-20, 0-15 Big East) are the one team in the league without a conference win.

It’s high noon in the Windy City.

Will DePaul remain winless in the league or will the Red Storm (13-15, 4-11) suffer the humiliation of being the Blue Demons’ first conquest?

“There’s definitely added pressure,” St. John’s forward Justin Burrell said. “You won’t want to be the team to lose a game.”

The deck is stacked against St. John’s. The Red Storm took an early-morning flight to Chicago yesterday. A noon tipoff (hit the snooze button!) is always harder on the visitors. And DePaul will be looking to send its seniors out with a win in their final home game in Allstate Arena.

When asked whether he thought DePaul was pinning its hopes on the St. John’s game, point guard Malik Boothe said, “I hope not.”
