There are no sharper eyes than these to watch, and understand, and appreciate what’s happened around the Knicks these last couple of weeks. There are a lot of things wrong with the NBA’s new playoff TV protocols, no matter how many press releases they issue insisting that more people are watching than they have in years.

What those numbers don’t reflect is what we’ve missed.

We’ve missed watching the Knicks blossom into this remarkably unselfish and efficient basketball machine without our most reliable sidekick: without hearing what Clyde Frazier has to say about any of it. And forget the eye-popping suits and mellifluous rhymes we’ve been denied; we’ve been stripped of the privilege of watching Clyde watch the Knicks.

And that’s a crime.
