On a Yankees roster constructed around four MVPs entering the season, one — Paul Goldschmidt — hasn’t homered since June 19 and has been woeful against right-handed pitching.

Another, Giancarlo Stanton, has started to find a rhythm at the plate recently but missed the first half of the season with tendinitis in both elbows and hasn’t logged an inning in the field.

Aaron Judge, a favorite to win the award again this year, is out until at least Tuesday. 

But Cody Bellinger, who won the award in 2019 with the Dodgers, has replicated some of that magic for most of the year for a Yankees group desperately needing it with Judge out until at least Tuesday.
