ICEBERG! A warning to those celebrating Fleet Week in New York City. The SS Stitches has been slowly sinking since we left the port in early April. Life jackets and cocktails are mandatory.
Vowing to go down with the ship we head to Pittsburgh where the Pirates are underwater as well. The Bravos took Tyler Anderson deep thrice in what may have been his worst start of the year. The generous Anderson (3-4, 4.73 ERA) has surrendered 13 runs over his last 10 innings but beat the Cubs at Wrigley three starts back. Chicago’s Kyle Hendricks (4-2, 4.74 ERA) has won two in a row, allowing two earned runs over 14 ²/₃ innings. Good luck winning three straight Kyle because we are taking the Cubs for 20 units.
Our apologies to Carlos Rodon. You sir, had no chance. Rodon threw a one-hitter (a homer) over six strong but took the loss. Cards went on to win 4-0. Our last two picks (one run) have come up as small as Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in that White House photo. Down -1,771 poseidons.
