Baseball Hall of Famer David Ortiz likely experienced his most memorable strikeout eight years after calling it a career.
Big Papi had the internet in stitches after he swung and missed during his baseball-themed gender reveal party, according to a video posted on Pio Deportes’ official Instagram account.
Ortiz and his significant other, Maria Yeribel, are expecting a son, but the 48-year-old MLB legend wasn’t the one who released the blue confetti announcing the gender.
The Boston Red Sox legend was seen striking out when someone, presumably Yeribel, tossed a ball to Ortiz, who was holding a dark-colored bat.
Other people off to the side were seen holding confetti poppers, which released as Ortiz spun around with the bat in his hand.

Ortiz has three children, including two with his ex-wife Tiffany, and one from another previous relationship.
The gender reveal appeared to double as a New Year’s Eve party, as the couple posed for photos in front of a sign that read: “New Year New Baby.”

“Over the past 25 years, David and I have shared a beautiful adventure in love and partnership,” Tiffany wrote at the time. “We have made the decision to go into a new phase of our life journey together, not as a couple, but as friends and co-parents to our amazing children.”
The ex-couple started dating in 1996 and tied the knot in 2002.
It’s unclear exactly when Ortiz and Yeribel got together.
