It took a photo-finish following nine straight second-place runs to do it, but jockey Robbie Davis finally won the 3,000th race of his career yesterday when Inevitably Pirate took the fourth race at Gulfstream Park by a nose.

”It’s nice to get that over with,” said the 37-year-old native of Idaho who rides most of the year in New York. Davis is the 90th rider in history to win 3,000 or more races.
