DEVILS BRACE FOR ANAHEIM
Is it time to include the trio of Petr Sykora, Jason Arnott and Patrik Elias as one of the top lines in hockey? You bet it is.
The young threesome has accounted for 44 of the Devils’ last 96 points across the last 12 games.
“They’re a good line, but there are a lot of good lines out there,” said Devils coach Robbie Ftorek, whose team hosts an Anaheim team with a terrific line tandem itself in Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya.
Also contributing is new forward Sergei Nemchinov, whom the Devils stole from the Isles for a fourth-round pick. Nemchinov, playing left wing on a line with Brendan Morrison and Sergei Brylin, has two goals in four games.
There was actually more than three teams interested in Nemchinov’s services, including San Jose and Anaheim, but Isles GM Mike Milbury, out of respect to the classy Russian, traded him close to his family.
