The Padres conducted what may be the worst fire sale ever, so maybe they never would have dealt star closer Robert Suarez, anyway.
But word is no team made a serious play for Suarez, the 101-mph-throwing righty who leads the NL in saves — not the Yankees (who went for Devin Williams instead), nor anyone else.
The Padres were allegedly listening on everyone except Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machadoand Jackson Merrill but wound up trading no one — and actually added instead.
