Orlando Hernandez almost won the really Big Game.

A World Series hero, Hernandez revealed yesterday that a friend called him Tuesday night and one by one read the winning numbers from the $360 million Big Game lottery. Hernandez was left breathless as he hit the first four numbers before his friend said “33” and Hernandez had 43. Hernandez also did not have the Big Money Ball number of four, but instead had eight.

Hernandez said he won $150 or about what he spent on tickets in New Jersey. In the midst of a four-year, $6.6 million contract, Hernandez was asked if he would have come to start last night’s game if he had won the $360 million.

“I always pitch when I am scheduled,” Hernandez said. “Every time.”
