The NFL commissioner, announcing his last first-round pick before Roger Goodell would get his turn at the 2007 draft, was Paul Tagliabue: 

“With the 32nd choice in the 2006 NFL draft, acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Giants select Mathias Kiwanuka, Boston College defensive end.” 

All these years later, I asked Accorsi why Kiwanuka — when the roster boasted pass rushers named Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora and second-year Justin Tuck.
